How to save energy this winter

Winter doesn’t officially start until December 21, but the weather will turn cold long before that.

Here are some tips to help you save on your energy bills no matter when the temperatures start to drop:

• Open your blinds and let the sunlight heat up your home.
• Change the filters in your heater every three months to improve airflow.
• Close the flue in your fireplace to prevent outdoor air from leaking in (Don’t forget to open it if you want to have a fire).
• Install energy efficient windows.
• Find and repair leaks in your windows and doors.
• Set your ceiling fans to rotate clockwise to push heat down.
• Close the vents in rooms you rarely use.
